Wedding Recap Part I

So, I am back. Sorry for the delay and absence. I know you missed me every minute of your day.

I want to go back through some of my favorite things about our wedding. First, it will help cure the post-wedding blues that I've only been avoiding with a busy work and social schedule up until this point. Second, I reviewed many other weddings, so I must review my own. Third, you KNOW you want to hear more!

I am going to start by talking about the events leading up to the actual wedding. For one, making programs. This became a huge task because I put it off for so long, and of course I wanted to make them really unique, so I stressed over content, format, materials, construction... My awesome friend Nadja came over to help one weekend while Kyle was at his bachelor party in Vegas. We ran out of card stock, had to wait because Hobby Lobby is closed on Sundays, got FedEx/Kinkos to professionally cut them so we saved our hands from arthritis, (They are the BEST and their machine rocks), and had lots of wine.

Here is the result:

Along with programs, my sister-in-law, Karen, helped me to construct our table "numbers" which were named for places Kyle and I love in Colorado. We ordered picture frames off Etsy, added labels, and inserted photos of Kyle and me at the locations. Here is a compilation of the frames:

I think they turned out pretty cute!

My mom and in-laws helped to construct the aisle runners, which made the aisle space a bit tighter than we expected for 3 people (both dads got caught up on the trees), but were SO beautiful and just what I imagined.  Here is a shot of them, I am sure you'll see more when I get the wedding pictures themselves posted.

So, as you can see, the details really started to come together nicely. I think that my vision was pretty close to the final result!

Wedding Review!

Unless any of you are planning on a quick engagement, I think that we have officially attended our LAST wedding as two separate last names! That makes it #24 out of 7 years. We are really touched that we had so many friends and family who wanted us to help celebrate, and hope that they are all excited to be a part of our day.

This past wedding celebrated my college friend Sarah, who really became my friend after college, but the sorority started it all! Sarah is part of our ski gang, always reliable for hitting up the slopes and going down any run with you. She married Jason in Wyoming, the first time I've ever been there, and here are some of my favorite details from the wedding:

J Crew bridesmaid dresses and cowboy boots!

When they left up the aisle, the sign said "Just hitched"
My friend/bridesmaid Jenna's son Arthur and the cute (and delicious) program!

Love this dress for her! So elegant!

This location was just gorgeous! The rain even held off just long enough for the ceremony!

Check out Kyle's Western digs! And can you start to see the difference in our size?!

The place cards and menus- Baby's Breath centerpieces were also aisle decorations.

Gift table with cute banner, and nice card box!

Candy bar!

So many delicious cupcakes, so little room on the diet for sweets :(

I absolutely LOVE this cake. It is just perfect.

Me with Sarah

All the Delta Gamma ladies! We are a cute bunch.

Wednesday Wedding Review

Another weekend, another wedding, at least that is how it feels at this house! This time we got to travel to beautiful Madison, WI for my cousin Ben's wedding. It was great in many ways. First, we got to see family that we haven't seen in way too long; second, I got to see Madison again after even longer; and last, as with any wedding, we had plenty of cake, dancing, and booze.

Since most of the weddings I attended in my childhood were in Wisconsin, I feel like a Wisconsin wedding is the "original". There were many classic elements at Ben and Dawn's wedding, from the traditional church ceremony, to the 50's and 60's rock songs, and even cameras on the tables for guests to capture the behind-the-scenes moments. I got to see all my relatives cutting a rug, and enjoyed catching up in between dances.

Some of my favorite details included a touch of Colorado! The guest book was purchased in Crested Butte, where we just traveled in October, and the card box was covered with a collage of photos from the region (my cousins have family there from the my aunt's side).  Here are some pictures of additional details:

Pew decorations

"Getaway Cars"

Hershey Kiss rose bud favors!

Leftovers? I am not sure I'd be willing to give up my extra cake! :)

Red velvet, vanilla, and chocolate!

The family and the plus ones

Orange is in our color palette, too!

Wednesday Wedding Review!

I am very excited to share some of the awesome details of my good friend Jill's wedding on April 21. First, the wedding was held in the beautiful chapel of the University of St. Thomas, where so many friends from my high school attended college, so I was quite familiar with the area. The reception was located in a historic country club on Lake Minnetonka, where we were fortunate enough to stay the night (due to the college friends being procrastinators, we got rooms there instead of the reserved hotel!)

Jill and Justin
We all knew the Jill's wedding would be epic, as she kept mum on the details throughout the past year of planning. In college she was notorious for her intricate scrap books in the sorority, and when we saw the invitations, we knew that she had put her skills to the test.

Then, we arrived at the reception to rapidly enjoy as many cocktails as we could during the 1 hour "pregame", complete with drink holder in our friends' baby stroller :). Only when the doors opened to the dining hall did we take in the entire picture. See the following pictures for all the details:

The card box- AMAZING!

The appetizer- spinach dip love!

The homemade (wrapped) candy bar

Wednesday Wish!

Although I truly just wish I had more vacation time to relax and hang out with the family (I shouldn't complain with 2 whole weeks for the holidays), I am also getting more and more checked off my wedding list so the wishes are narrowing to the details. The details are the fun part, anyway. Today's detail wish: cute shoes. When I got my dress last week, I was told that I had to know which shoes I thought I might be looking at wearing so that the dress doesn't wind up being too long or too short. I chose a medium heel height, but honestly I don't know what I'll wind up doing for shoes!! Here is one idea, which may hint at details from my dress... ;)
